Welcome To The Woods: Singlecut Beersmiths

0001.jpg

Singlecut Beersmiths has arrived in our market and we want to give them one hell of a welcome! Singlecut was founded in 2012 by Rich Buceta in Queens, NY. Driven by a love of music and hop-driven beer, Singlecut demands greatness doesn’t compromise and always hits maximum volume. After trying a bunch of their offerings, we’re excited to welcome them to the neighborhood with a chill party and delicious beer.

Our party list includes these killer Singlecut Beers:

  • 18-Watt IPA: A session crusher with full-blown citrus, piney and tropical flavor.

  • Hop Sounds Dry-Hopped Dry Ale: Crisp and clean while hitting every citrus and grassy note possible.

  • Plain Top Pilsner: Czech and New World hops in a bright and tidy package.

  • Kim Hibiscus Sour Lager: Pink and puckering with hibiscus and black currants.

  • Jån Alpine White Lager: Citrusy and subtly spicy…finishing clean and dry.

  • Fuzzbox DDH IIPA: An orange juice and apricot jam hop bomb. ‘Nuff said.

Tacos will be served in the beer garden by Cafe Revive!

Come in and get in on the party this Friday after work. It’s going to be a great time and these beers are awesome.

Just Enough Cologne: A Collaboration Appreciation Celebration

67276234_1155968461256274_6556305252797120512_n.jpg

Our Story

A few years ago, we were excited for the opportunity to collaborate with our friends at Crystal Lake Brewing Company on a style that we all truly appreciate…Kölsch (style ale). Since then, Too Much Cologne has become our house beer. That faithful friend that’s always there when you need it. On Saturday, July 20th, we’re celebrating this friend, the friends that drink it and the friends who brew it.

To celebrate, we’re debuting our new Kölsch glasses from Rastal and having a proper (pretty close) Kölsch service in the beer garden. We’ll also have Golden Eagle Hot Dogs on-hand to make delicious bratwursts and other sausages starting at 5.

How This Works

In its home town, the Kölsch is served in smaller glassware called a Stange. Once you’ve been served your Kölsch, a mark is ticked on to your coaster and the beer is on your tab. If your friendly beertender sees your glass empty, you’re given another one and your coaster gets ticked. If you’re not interested in another beer or need a break, all you have to do is put your coaster on top of your glass. Easy enough. That’s how we’re handling things in the beer garden on Saturday. A little piece of German tradition right here in the ‘Burbs.

A quick note…we’ll keep an eye on how many marks are on your coaster. It’s for all of our safety.*

Kölsch Talk

Straight out of Köln (Cologne), Germany, the Kölsch is the liquid banner representing the pride and distinction of the community of Cologne. A well-connected collaboration of breweries respectfully protects this style of beer and holds its tradition sacred. Hence, our collaboration (as accurate as we feel it is) bears the designation of a Kölsch-Style Ale. A respectful tribute to this beautiful German creation and its amazing origins.

The style is top-fermented and then finished cold. The result is a subtly fruity and refreshing beer with a superbly clean, crisp finish. It’s perfect for strolling the beer garden, playing a yard game or relaxing in the shade.

Clear Your Calendar

You won’t want to miss this celebration of community and great friends. We’ll be open at noon. Our outdoor service starts at 3 and dinner starts around 5.

Photo Courtesy of Vanity Fair. Subscribe to them for Pippa Middleton’s croquet guide, y’all.

We’re gonna get fancy this Saturday with a friendly croquet tournament in the garden and Firestone Walker beer in our glasses.

We are currently accepting team applications for this free-to-play croquet tournament on June 1st - 3 pm. Stop in to the tap room to enter your team of two. The winners will get cool stuff and bragging rights. Registration ends an hour before the tournament. We will have a rules overview for the participants at 2:30 and play will begin at 3. We doubt there are many croquet ringers in the Chicagoland area, so don’t be afraid to sign up and have some fun!

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

We’re rockin’ some pretty righteous Firestone Walker beer including;

  • Firestone Lager

  • Bretta Tangerine French-Oak Aged Berliner w/ Tangerines

  • Parabola Heaven Hill Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Oatmeal Stout

  • Maple Parabola (Parabola w/ Maple Syrup Aged In Maple Bourbon Barrels)

  • We’re pretty sure another one that we will surprise you with on Saturday

Come on in Saturday afternoon. Wear your bright whites and be the sophistocrat that you are in your heart. Worst-case scenario, if it rains, you’ll be able to make a Parabola toast to Mother Nature’s victory.
