Export Porter brewed with Caramelized Plantains

When we began brainstorming ideas with Cigar City for our collaboration beers, the vision quickly took on a Cuban theme- specifically cuisine. The result, a pair of delicious beers; the one being brewed at 5 Rabbit, made with super-ripe plátanos maduros. Several layers of dark malts provide a rich base and the caramerlized plantains offer a creamy texture and delicious taste. We put a lot of love and labor into this beer: we peeled, sliced and caramelized 2400lbs of ripe plantains by hand! 

El Bizarrón is the hero of a Cuban folktale. A simple worker who outsmarted the devil, winning his freedom as well as a load of silver, kicked to the heavens loaded on his faithful burro, way up high where he knew the devil couldn't follow.
