Our Story

We’ve always been passionate about the incredible craft scene here in Chicago, its suburbs, and towns all across America. After years of exploring, tasting, and discovering hidden gems, we had an idea in 2012: Why not bring the best of those experiences home to Elgin, Illinois?
What started as a dream to share our love of craft beer has grown into a destination for locals and visitors alike. But we didn’t stop at beer—today, we’re proud to offer an expanded selection of craft beverages that include local and international wines, artisan ciders, and a curated selection of whiskeys. Whether you're a beer enthusiast, a wine lover, or a whiskey connoisseur, we’ve got something for everyone to enjoy in our welcoming Tap Room and outdoor spaces.

Welcome to our Tap Room and Beer Garden in Elgin, Illinois!

We are a 21+ only establishment (see our policy below)

Beer Garden, front porch, patio and Tap Room seating available first come first serve. Private fire pits are available on weekends. Don’t forget to check out our hiking trails! Outside beverages, coolers, or tailgating are not permitted. We do not serve food. However, you’re more than welcome to Bring Your Own Food on days when a food truck is not scheduled.

Plank Road Tap Room – 21 and Over Policy

We love sharing great beer, food, and community vibes with our guests! To ensure a fun and safe environment for all, we have a 21 and over policy in place. This means that only patrons 21 years of age and older are permitted to enter the Tap Room, including the outdoor garden areas.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our space enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're celebrating with friends or enjoying a solo brew, we're here to make your experience memorable! (More on Family Friendly Sundays below)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are babies allowed at the Tap Room?

A: Our policy is focused on providing a relaxing, adult-oriented atmosphere, so we kindly ask that no babies or children be brought into the Tap Room or outdoor areas. We do love our young patrons, but we want to keep the environment tailored to our adult crowd. Thanks for your understanding!

Q: Are there any exceptions to the 21+ age restriction?

A: The only exception to our 21+ policy is during designated events, such as Family-Friendly Summer Sundays, where minors may be allowed when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please check our event calendar for details.

Q: Are dogs allowed at the Tap Room?

A: We are a dog-friendly venue! Dogs are welcome on our outdoor patio, as long as they are well-behaved and kept on a leash. Please ensure your furry friends are comfortable in a social environment, and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy their time. Note: Dogs are not allowed inside the Tap Room area.

From May through October, we host Family Friendly Sundays! Bring the whole crew and enjoy a fun, relaxed environment with music, food trucks, and drinks.

Our outdoor and indoor tap room seating is available year ‘round, and is first come, first served. All drinks are ordered at the bar. Relax in our award winning beer garden and sip on a cold craft beer, cider, or cocktail under an umbrella in our main lawn, patio, or covered front porch.
Pets are welcome! If you bring your dog, we kindly request they are kept on a leash at all times. Use the hashtag #plankroadpups for a chance to be featured on our Instagram and weekly newsletter.

FIRE PIT RENTALS

FIREPIT RENTALS ARE AVAILABLE ON SELECT DATES

Reservations must be made online at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day reservations are not guaranteed and are pending staffing availability. To ensure you have a cozy, hassle-free experience, there’s a small fire pit fee, which includes: private use of the fire pit for your group during your 90-minute rental, premium kiln-dried firewood for maximum heat and less smoke, and a fire pit attendant to light and maintain the fire.
