Shift Beers
AFTER A HARD DAYS WORK......
If you're in the food and beverage industry, you likely know what a shift beer is. If you're not, it's really quite simple. After a long day's work, or an unusually tough shift, there's nothing better than to reward yourself with some time to sit, relax, and drink a beer. Sometimes it's on the house, sometimes not. Usually it involves time shared with a co-worker, regular, or friend to talk about the day and settle down before going home.
Alan and Jeremy have a shift beer at the end of each line cleaning session. They grab a glass or can of an old favorite and let the conversation flow. Whether they're discussing the beer in their glasses or something going on in the industry, things usually devolve into fits of laughter.
At some point, the boys thought maybe other people would enjoy sitting in on these conversations, so we grabbed a camera and a minimal amount of audio equipment and started recording. Each episode, we will feature a beer that's important to us. Not a "whale" or limited release, but rather an old standby or a go-to beer that's readily available as a frequent draft option or in the can cooler. We're not reviewing these beers or offering in-depth tasting notes. Instead, we'll discuss why this particular beer and the people who brew it are important to Plank Road Tap Room.
So grab a beer, sit back, and relax while we share some stories over Shift Beers.
